15 years on supported housing still matters #startsathome

On a recent trip to London for a meeting an ex resident approached us and told his story since leaving the Foyer 15 years ago.
WX was one of the very first residents at Doncaster Foyer. He was on his way to meet friends in Sheffield for a day out. He told us about his family and the children and went on to say he was also working full time doing incoming calls at a large call centre locally.
WX looked very well, confident and happy. He said if it wasn’t for the Foyer he might not be where he is today. He complimented the staff who had worked with him during his stay, saying how helpful and supportive everyone was when he needed it most.
After he left he posted a status on Facebook saying how grateful he was for having access to the opportunities Doncaster Foyer offered. This then sparked off a series of comments in Facebook all in the same vein from ex residents. It was really nice to see the impact Doncaster Foyer has had on the lives of those early residents.
Reading the comments gave recognition to the good work we do for all our partners who follow the Facebook page and brought tears to the eyes of the staff that have been here since the Foyer opened.
