Celebrating saha at 60!
09/10/19

Transforming Lives is at the heart of what saha do.
Since its inception in 1959, saha have been putting their residents at the heart of everything that they do, from providing affordable accommodation to single people and families to the advice and support they provide in their supported accommodation.
This year see’s saha’s diamond anniversary, which was proudly celebrated at The Salvation Army International Headquarters on 26th September.
The occasion saw current and former saha residents and staff talk about their time with saha and how this has impacted positively on their lives.
Nigel Hills, Chief Executive shared the story of a former resident, from overcoming a controlling home where she suffered abuse to moving into saha’s Dashwood House, where she received advice and support on how to manage when moving into her new home.
Joining saha on the day were a number of friends from The Salvation Army, including; Territorial Commander Anthony Cotterill and saha’s Chair, Commissioner John Matear who delivered speeches echoing the sentiments heard throughout the afternoon and emphasising the importance of the relationship between saha and The Salvation Army as its parent organisation, and the incredible work that is accomplished together.
Following the celebration event guests were invited to view the saha residents ‘Transforming Lives’ exhibition at Gallery 101, which featured paintings, letters, pictures, crafts and sculptures showcasing their interpretation of what Transforming Lives means to them.
