NEW CHAIR AT THE SALVATION ARMY HOUSING ASSOCIATION

17/11/22

We are excited to announce that Stephen Stringer joined Saha as the new Board Chair on 9 September 2022.

He has been the Chair of Fairhive Homes Ltd (formerly the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust) since 2016. Prior to that he was the Chair of Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association, a position he held for six years, and previously a Board member of the Metropolitan Support Trust. He brings a wealth of relevant experience as a non-executive Board member, a Chair and having had a varied career as a senior Civil Servant at the former Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Stephen said upon his appointment, “It gives me great pride to take on this role and join Saha. As part of The Salvation Army, it is an organisation with values that reflect my Christian faith and the work done in supported housing is truly transformative. I intend to work with the Board and the Executive team to ensure that this work continues. I can’t wait to lead Saha successfully through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I am sure that exciting times await, and I will be visiting some schemes as soon as I can to meet customers and to get a feel for what it feels like to be a Saha resident

The Interim CEO, Lynne Shea, added “I am delighted Stephen has joined Saha, he brings a lot of housing experience and I look forward to working with him to continue the positive journey that Saha is on in transforming lives, ensuring our homes are safe and being an employer of choice.”

During his career as a government advisor, he worked in the housing and regeneration sectors as well as being responsible for the governance and oversight of a range of Government organisations. This has seen him deliver high profile projects, including the programme to expand the large scale private rented sector involving the Build to Rent fund, the Olympics Legacy, and delivering growth in the Thames Gateway Programme.
